How did we come into being?

Well Ray Meager moved to Milton Keynes some three years ago and was a long standing member of the Middlesex RS group and was also an active committee member there along with yours truly (Simon Galbraith) after he moved he remained a loyal member of Middlesex not missing any meets or shows with his RS2000 MK2 or his S1 Escort RS Turbo . 

This involved long journeys to and from home and he ended up going to the meets straight after work cleaning himself up prior to the meets at his brothers house and this was beginning to be a bit of a drag for him so he tried some of the other groups out and found that they were a bit of a drive and decided to stick with Middlesex.

I after numerous chats with Ray and his family Karen and I decided we could have a better life in Milton Keynes ourselves and in April 2003 we moved up here too.  We both travelled to Middlesex where I was the events organiser and along with Ray and many others organised some of the biggest Regional shows seen being the Middlesex RSOC Motorsport show.

But after a while the journey was getting to be a drag  and we both came off the Middlesex committee and we could not work out why no one had not set up a Milton Keynes Group after plenty of talking and research we found that we could set up a Milton Keynes Group if the other Groups were ok about it and Beds & Northants gave us their blessing thanks peeps. Well that was the first hurdle over next came finding a venue to have the meets, this proved a lot more difficult than we first thought no where would have us after trying at several locations we were getting a bit downbeat about it thinking that we would never find anywhere and one evening while debating other viable locations Ray’s wife Jennifer came up with Caldecotte we thought no chance but we went and saw the manageress there and she was very happy with letting us use their facilities.

We meet on the second Tuesday of every month at the Caldecotte Arms, Caldecotte Lake just off the A5 on the A4146.

There is free Membership to the Group this then entitles you to discounts specifically given to MK RSOC from C D Bramall (Ford main Dealer) on servicing, parts & Rapid Fit, Carnoiseur Bedford is giving exclusive discounts to MK RSOC members. We also get reduced rate tickets to a number of RSOC National shows like National Day and Castle Combe.

We organise trips to shows all over the country where there are like minded people all going mad about looking after Ford RS cars, these shows are usually well attended by traders who may have those elusive parts that you have been looking for and most will haggle a bit to so you can get the odd bargain as well as having a great time going to these events with new friends in Milton Keynes.

On meet nights we have events like Car of the night (during the summer) which then roles into car of the year at Christmas time with a big prize, we have a raffle most meet nights for some Ford or car related goodies and during the winter months to replace car of the night we have a quiz for all to enter. But the main thing about club nights is the opportunity to swap knowledge with other RS mad people about solving those irritating little problems modding advice etc.
